Hi all
I'm a member of the Canberra and disricts Leyland P76 club.
I am hoping to get some advice on a few queries I have with obtaining parts and information.
I am currently in the process of restoring my father's Super V8 that has been unregistered for the last 15+ years.
I'm at the stage of sorting out the engine and the engine bay.
The original sound proofing material along the firewall and underneath the bonnet is very weathered and needs replacing.
I've recieved some advice that a substitute for the original material is to get some pink bats with carboard on one side and paint them black.
Has anyone come across other solutions?
I am also hoping you can help me with advice in obtaining a steering coupling (the material or canvass-like bit), or whether the Leyland P76 steering coupling is similar to that of another car.
I've also been trying to find rubber (as opposed to nolathane) castor rod bushes but I suspect that there aren't any rubber ones in existence anymore - or whether they're compatible with another car of that era.
I've not been successful at all in obtaining this part.
At some stage (when I have the money) I plan to have the car repainted. Do you know the brand/colour of the dark (greyish or black) background paint that surrounds the headlights?
My father years ago painted this part of the car Bitter Apricot to match the rest of the car and I'd like to get it back to looking closer to standard.
I've managed to misplace the plastic clip that attaches to the firewall in the engine bay and holds one end of the metal rod (accelerator linkage?) that connects to the caburettor.
Not sure if there's a difference but I need a plastic clip for a Leyland V8 - as opposed to a 6.
Hopefully I've adequately described the clip and its function for you to know what I'm after.
I'd be grateful for any advice you can give me or if you can point me in another direction so as to get the advice from someone else.
Regards
Angus Black
