Mick - Townsville
The car is country cream and was bought in Toowoomba and now is located in Nanango.
- I was originally going to just re-sleeve the the cylinder but went the full rebuild route.
- I had heard about blokes stretching the P motor to 5 litres, but found the only way was to put landrover discovery pistons in.
- I had all new sleeves, pistons, rings & bearings, the largest valves I could fit, then a cam to match.
- The crank balanced by itself, then with the conrods, then flywheel.
- Linished all rough edges off the crank & rods and also the cast lugs on the sides of the rods.
- With the heads, I had a spare head cut in two, to see how far we could safely take any mods.
- Inlet manifold has been modified to suit 600 squarebore holley.
- Machined off boss, welded on 4bbl adapter plate then machined out the dual plane, rewelded inside then machined out again for nice even finish. The hornet scoop was added because of extra height of carby.
- It revs very well and even though I don't have headers, sounds pretty good too.
- My problem at the moment is that as soon as I put into gear, it stalls.
- I don't know why this is occuring so if anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated as I want to drive it from Nanango to Townsville, and at the moment i'm not real confident it'll be a happy trip.
- Thanks
