Petrol or LPG Dizzy

By Mike Chadwick
I assume from what you say that you are running a standard Lucas dizzy set at TDC at idle.
Do you know this for certain?
Did you set the timing at 0 degrees when you bought the car?
The dizzy may have had a compromise curve put in to accommodate petrol and LPG when the LPG conversion was done.
However, if the set-up is as you say, std. Lucas dizzy and petrol curve, it will be OK for petrol, but not much good for LPG until you get to higher speed, and even then, LPG will again lose out as the curve advances further for full petrol power.
It will never achieve good power with LPG using std. ignition timing.
