THE P76 BUG FROM THE BEGINNING FOR THE HOLLAND FAMILY OF STOCKINBINGAL AND NOW COOTAMUNDRA
- 1980 WAS THE YEAR, SAW A LEYLAND V8 P76 IN COOTAMUNDRA`S TOYOTA DEALERS YARD FOR SALE FOR $1500.00.REGO GNB 666 [COUNTRY CREAM] WENT HOME TO STOCKINBINGAL TO THINK ABOUT IT [DID NOT TAKE LONG] INTO TOWN THE NEXT DAY AND SIGNED THE PAPERS FOR IT.
- HEADED FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL IN COOTAMUNDRA TO PICKUP OUR TWO DAUGHTERS AND TOLD BY THEM TO GO AROUND THE CORNER AND THEY WOULD GET IN SO NO ONE WILL SEE THEM GETTING INTO A CAR THAT LOOKS LIKE A VALIANT [MADE THEM GET IN] THEY SETTLED IN BETTER LATER, SCHOOL HOLIDAYS CAME SOON AFTER AND PACKED THE P76 FOR A HOLIDAY TO VICTORIA.
- VERY VERY HOT WEATHER WE EXPERENCED BUT NO TROUBLE FROM THE CAR BUT A LITTLE HEATING UP IN THE TRAFFIC [NOT TO BAD SEEING THAT THE TRAM WE WENT ON OVERHEATED AND WE HAD TO WALK 3 BLOCKS BACK TO THE CAR IN 42c HEAT.]
- [NOT A GOOD DAY] ALL THE SAME THE TRIP WAS ENJOYABLE.
- MID 1980`S MY SON AND SELF HEARD OF A BOLD AS BRASS V8 AT A WRECKING YARD AT JUNEE.
- HE NEEDED A CAR TO GET TO AND FROM WORK, NO HARM IN TAKING A LOOK AT A WRECK AT THE WRECKERS.
- DROVE UP AND THERE WAS A BOLD AS BRASS PARKED NEAR THE SHED WITH MAG WHEELS ON WORKED MOTOR, ASKED IF WE COULD SEE THE P76 IN YARD AND WAS TOLD THAT’S IT OVER THERE POINTING TO THE ONE NEAR THE SHED,$400.00
- HANDED OVER LIGHTING QUICK, TOW FRAME PUT ON QUICK [MIGHT CHANGE HIS MIND] ONTO WAGGA ROAD BUT THIS WAS NOT TO BE TOWED HOME, SO ON THE BACK ROAD TO STOCKINBINGAL WE DROVE THE BEAST HOME.
- VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE WITH THE MILD CAM. NOT A LOT TO DO FOR REGO.
- [SON HAD HIS CAR]
- TRIP TO WAGGA FOUND ANOTHER V8 REPAINTED IN A LIGHT BROWN COLOUR $2500.00 FOR THIS ONE, HOME WITH IT BUT AFTER A SHORT TIME WE HAD OVERHEATING TROUBLE WITH IT IN THE SUMMER HEAT.
- THIS POOR CAR CAME TO A BREIF END TAKING SCHOOL CHILDREN INTO STOCKINBINGAL SLIPERY WET ROAD TOOK IT INTO A BUNCH OF TREES, USE FOR IT NOW IS PARTS AFTER MUM HAD THE SLIDE OUT.
- THEN CAME ANOTHER TRIP TO HENTY FIELD DAYS [A BOLD AS BRASS IN A SHED HAD TO BE CHECKED OUT]
- A WEEK LATER IT ALSO WAS IN MY SHED AT STOCKINBINGAL, ANOTHER V8.
- EXC V8 FROM COOTAMUNDRA CAME TO MY ATTENTION FOR $500.00 HAD TO HAVE IT ALSO, INTO MY SHED.
- THIS MADE A TOTAL OF 5 I HAVE OWNED.
- RUST TOOK THE EXC OUT, PARTS ONLY NOW.
