- Hi Mick,
- The exhaust manifold was unpainted and had the grey cast iron finish.
- I have a colour photo of a V8 engine bay at the release in Canberra in 73 which shows the colour of the manifolds perfectly, if you wish I can email it to you.
- It is also of use to anyone else restoring a P76 with regards to getting all the colours and detail right in the engine bay.
- I am almost certain the 6 cylinder motors were painted the same blue as the V8 rocker covers and air cleaner, according to Dulux this colour was called Jet Stream Blue.
- This colour is almost identical to the engine blue used on the XY GT's, if you go to someone like Grand Tourer in Melbourne ( in Broadmeadows I think ) or any other Falcon GT specialist they can sell it to you in a spray pack.
- Make sure you ask for the XY blue though, because the colour does vary between models and the XY is the closest.
- Regards,
- James Mentiplay
