Technical problem- Detecting manifold leak |
|
Old trick
From the 215V8@yahoogroups.com
- Hello Bill,
- I would strongly suggest you retrofit a vacuum canister to your distributor.
- It will greatly help in smoothness and mileage. Also, I would only use manifold vacuum and not ported. I cannot think of any performance builders (street or tract) who recommend ported vacuum.
- That may cure your problem but I think another gremlin is at play.
- That aftermarket intake manifold may have a vacuum leak between it and your heads. I have experienced that problem on one of my own installations.
- Use the old trick of spraying starter fluid around the gasket sealing area while the engine is idling.
- If there is a noticeable change in RPM you have found the culprit.
- Best to you,
- Darius
