Rover Timing cover Repairing
- From James
- Email: bartelljames
- There are some repairs you have no choice but to attempt.
- However, if there IS a choice, avoid risks.
- The repair of cast aluminium is not recommended.
- It doesn't work and no one needs a part that important failing at the wrong time.
- If you can't find a decent used sd1 cover (and you surely won't in the
- US) then move to a new Buick 215.
- The timing cover for the 215 is same as the Buick 215-225-231- 252-300-340- 350 and they are still made and
- they fit.
- The differences are the (1) angle of the oil filter, the length of the gears and the interface between the oil gear shaft and the distributor.
- (1) is not a problem if you have a bit of space.
- (2) is not a problem if you buy one of the covers with an extended housing for bigger gears.
- (3) is no issue if you switch the shafts from the extended Buick gears (they come with the purchase of the upgraded
- timing cover).
- I know the Rovers are press fit, and the Buicks as well.
- Call up or look up www.TAperformance.com. They have an online catalogue.
- Look for part TA 1530C
