Here's a tip for all P76 book-facers...
Its a pic of an aftermarket water pump without the weep hole .
If you have a water pump like this fitted to your car be aware of the dangers.
I'm overhauling this for a QLD club member because the seal let go and there was no where for the coolant to escape too;
so it went through the bearing and stuffed it..
I'll drill out the weep hole and then overhaul the pump.
That way it can be checked for leaks and make sure that the new seal is seated correctly & it doesn't stuff the new bearing.

Yo, Garth. Dave S. got me to do the same job on a few V-8 pumps.
I believe that the "undrilled" pumps were the clones from Taiwan.
If they're dismantled carefully, after the drain-hole is drilled in the body, the seals can be reused if their casing is not damaged.

Evening Phil.
Yes they were the reproduction ones.
Done a couple of them now.
The housing is ok , but the bearing is shot..

Yeah! Some bright sparks even put a screw and silicone in the hole just to make the problem go away!

Blocking the drain hole would be guaranteed to make the coolant, under pressure, flush all the grease out of the bearing's body.
Strictly for an emergency rebuild, if you've got the tools to strip a water pump, you can use the Davies seals, for agricultural/farm pumps, part number 47863.

Philip Crowther you are better off letting it drip out and just keep replacing the fluid.
The leak is it telling you to action it.
