Victorian P76 Owners Club

The 2006 Concourse

The committee was wrapped with the day, especially those like yourself and the gippsland crowd who made the effort to travel long distances to enjoy the day and support the club.
Certainly the standard of cars was without doubt excellent.
I haven’t seen a better six than Graham Becks white deluxe 4 speed, and there is also no doubt in my mind that Nick Demopoulos electric blue beast is arguably the best modified “P” in Australia, What a crowd puller!
He deserved, and won, both the Best V8 trophy and the Jim Wallace trophy, the peoples choice.
Other striking cars Jim Mcargs home on the range super, the trio of bitter apricots from gippsland: deluxe, super and exec owned by Ian Wickens and Ray Lintell, plus the perenially outstanding cars of Joe blitz country cream six, Rob Hutcheons am-eye-blue super 8 and Trevor Browns green v8 super with the wire wheels.
Not to mention Ken Westerns bold as brass super which gets better every year, and good to see Dave Walker with his oh fudge six hit the tarmac must be the only six in Australia with a warm cam and XU1 valve springs, goes quite nicely I’ve heard.
Trophies:

Best six:

Graham Beck deluxe 4 white speed

Best V8:

Peoples vote:

Nik Demopoulos blue super

Daily driven:

Marcus Kneebone deluxe white V8

Congratulations to the President and board of the Victorian P76 club for an outstanding concourse held on Sunday, November 26.
With close on 20 cars (even some NON member cars)all lined up along a road within the Carribean Gardens (a large market complex in eastern Melbourne).
Used spare parts aplenty were available, including a few NOS parts.
My biggest disappointment of the weekend was the untimely demise of the head gasket in my super six, fortunately only about 5 minutes down the highway from home, and was able to limp back with a tear in my eye and my tail between my legs.
Once again congratulations to Rick Perceval and his board for an 'Anything But Average' day.

I totally agree what a great day it was, perfect weather and plenty of very nice cars to look over.
I was humbled to win best v8 and peoples choice i really didnt think i would win after seeing so many great cars.
Its great to see the competion closer each year and with a few new young members joining im sure theres a few
new one around the corner too.
Next year im bringing a hat!! as a virus brought on by the heat as kept me in bed all week.
After the last few years trying to get to the concourse only to brake down before icould get there, this year the car didnt miss a beat.(drove like a dream) I think maybe Jim W and Harold W had some thing to do with that.
Thanks guys!
Niko.
Congratulations Nik and all the other winners and entrants. Keep them cars alive,as i will be back in the mix one day.And living in Victoria....
Anton
