Victorian P76 Owners Club

Sannons Aussie Classic Car Day

from Mike Clarke, Vic Club

On Sunday the vic club attended the Shannons Australian Classic Car day at sandown racecourse in the south east of melbourne.
This was a big day for the club as the Leyland P76 (the quintessential aussie car) had not been represented and we were determined to show the other aussie car clubs the P76 was not dead and in fact was alive and kicking!
We had 7 members cars turn up a great effort (and 3 members minus there cars).
Thanks to all those who came. The cars included Rays home on the orange force seven, Erics omega navy targa, Kens bold as brass super my spanish olive super Marcus white deluxe, Trevor Browns executive, Ricks super/deluxe/exec.... So the punters got the full deck to have a look at and with the force in attendance they certainly flocked like bees to honey...
And so they should 99% of the assembled holden ford and valiant enthisiasts would have never seen a force seven and half of 'em wouldnt have heard of one....no force seven has ever attended a car show like this in
melbourne or victoria...ever.
Ray recieved reward for attending, winning "best aussie car not in the big three" by unanimous vote of the organisers.
Well done Ray.
All the P's in attendance were daily drivers while it was obvious most of the other vehicles (with exceptions) were not, nevertheless we stacked up well, attracted plenty of interest and look forward to next years show.
Theres no doubt this is the right place to show our cars rather than the "british and european car day"......where each year I have attended I get some old dowager on the gate telling me "thats not a british car thats australian!"......and I wholeheartedly agree.....
Mick
