Tasmanian P76 Owner

History of Ray's P76 - Words by Pam

Ray has had a fascination for P76's since his Dad bought one brand new, when he was a kid.
As soon as he was old enough he bought one for himself.
He (mis)spent his youth along with his brother and mates racing around Oran Park, Amaroo and Huntly hill climbs.
He can answer any question regarding improving performance/handling of P76's.
The wheels are 15x10 295s on back and 15 x8 265 front drag lights
There hasn't been very long in his life since that time, that he has been, without a P76.
Most of the time he has had between 1 and 6, most of the time, several.

Restoration of Red

Red was looking lovely but tired around the fenders
A makeover is what she needs, to erase the little benders
We decide on a paint job, to match her brand new pair of shoes
A makeover for Red, how could we lose?
We rounded our mate Russell up, to come round and peruse
A paint officianado, he narrowed it to the blues
Metalic or not metalic? That was our next decision
He assured us, with his knowledge, we could apply it with precision
So we stripped her of her finery, down to her underwear
Then we went even further and stripped some parts bare!
We banged out all her bingles and cut out all her rust.
Welding in new pieces and choking on the dust
When she was all prepped, we started undercoating. Thats when Russel did some voting!
Ray was not allowed to sand! After a look around the car, he said "he's got a heavy hand"
Pam's the girl for this job, as she doesn't rub right through
So she can do the sanding and there will be no bally-hoo
Four undercoats later, we proceeded to the colour, Midnight Blue
Three coats later and we just knew
She was going to be just beautiful, once we'd finished with the clear
Six coats later and we knew that we were near
The seats have been upholstered
the chrome all polished bright
The dust is all gone
She's such a lovely sight
The paintwork has been polished, to such a high degree
that the second hand of my watch going round. You can see!
We are out for our first jaunt, people staring as we pass
Her paintwork gleaming, just as shiny as glass
Some guy just chased us down the road, so impressed with our Red
He has to know what she is? "never seen one before" That's what he said
"youv'e done and excellent fix"
This is Red Our P76
